Why to join us in Recife for PESC'05 ?

First of all, as everybody knows, PESC is a challenging conference with many opportunities to exchange technical experiences. For that, besides the technical sessions, PESC will offer the traditional Rap Sessions, in which you can exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere, and Tutorials.

Our host hotel is  Mar Hotel, just two blocks from the beautiful Boa Viagem (Good Trip) beach and five (5) minutes from Guararapes International Airport. We have a good rate for rooms at the Conference Hotel (5 stars at 80 dollars - a huge breakfast included). Lunch (our main meal) is also included as part of the registration fee, which will be less expensive than those of the last two PESCs. Parking will be free for guests. The hotel is within walking distance to many restaurant options. A large shopping center is at a seven (7) minutes drive from the hotel.

For those who think that air tickets to come to Brazil are too expensive, we can say that they are as expensive as to go from USA to Europe (Denver/Frankfurt is around US$ 1,100 and we paid US$ 950 to travel from Recife to Frankfurt). Certainly you can pay less to travel inside USA or inside Europe. It is also more expensive to fly from Asia to Brazil than to fly to USA or Europe. But what about the opportunity of enjoying an endless festival of attractions: beaches, mountains, forests, mighty rivers, dunes, hot springs, waterfalls, parks, historic places, parties, adventures, eco-tourism and a host of cultural attractions you can find in Brazil. Recife is an inexpensive city! What about eating lobster by only seven (7) dollars? Or having a “churrasco” (the brazilian barbecue) eating the most you can for only eight (8) dollars? Or having a self service meal - good food! - paying just what you eat, for 7 (seven) dollars per kilo?

At PESC'05, specifically: Companions who are not attending for the technical content of the meeting will have a full schedule of entertainment – and Recife is a great city for this. What about a dancing class on samba? Some engineers like sports. What about a soccer match on Sunday, June 12, gathering PESC'05 participants? Engineers like technical tours, so these tours are planned. What about meeting and honoring your associates at the Awards Meeting. On Wednesday evening, join us for dinner and a program of outstanding entertainment. Listen to the Three Baritones, sing and dance with a big band…
You have a warm invitation to join us in Recife at the Power Electronics Specialists Conference. If you have questions that are not answered on this web site, email the local committee at pesc05@dee.ufcg.edu.br We will do our best to help you.

Sincerely,

Edison Roberto Cabral da Silva,

Conference Chair
