Abstract :
Physical phenomena occurring in several-kAmps thyristors are
discussed. Circumstances accompanying a nonuniform distribution of forward
current density in the plane of semiconductor structures are described.
The specificity of the press-pack housing of high power semiconductor
devices is presented. Practical suggestions are given as to applications
of these devices in converter systems.
