Abstract :
Determination of thyristor ratings and dynamic phenomena during GTO
thyristor turn-off are discussed. There is a current density inhomogeneity
in such circumstances. If gives some current concentration in peripheral
segment groups. An oscillation GTO turn-off process is described. A
modificated GTO overvoltage protection, that eliminates resistors from
snubber circuits, is presented. Some difficulties dealing with an assembly
of GTO thyristors in converters are related.
