Call for Papers The 1997 Power Electronics Specialists Conference (PESC), sponsored by the IEEE Power Electronics Society, will be held at the Regal Riverfront Hotel, St. Louis, Missouri, USA from June 22-27, 1997. PESC provides an international forum for specialists in power electronics to present and discuss papers on forward-looking topics in this fast-evolving field. PESC promotes interdisciplinary discussions of new ideas and the latest advances in the field of power electronics. PESC '97 solicits original work in systems, circuit topologies, devices, control theory and methods, simulation and design methods, utility applications, electric vehicle applications, aerospace applications, motor drives, education, and other significant contributions to the advancement of power electronics. To facilitate the review process, the following topic categories have been created: 1. Dc-to-dc converters and distributed dc power supply systems, 2. Rectifiers, inverters, and other ac-to-dc and dc-to-ac converters for power supply and UPS applications, 3. Motor drives and motion control, 4. Automotive, aerospace, transportation, and utility applications of power electronics, 5. Power quality, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) issues, 6. Discrete and integrated power semiconductor devices and modules, 7. Passive components including capacitors and magnetic devices, 8. Computer-aided modeling, analysis, design and synthesis of power electronic systems, 9. Control theory as applied to power electronic systems, 10. Packaging of power electronic systems. For a paper to be considered for inclusion in the technical program, submit the following materials printed using either 8.5 x 11 inch or size A-4 paper. 1. Three copies of a one-page abstract. The abstract page should show the paper title, author names and organization, and the mailing address, telephone, and fax numbers of the corresponding author. The text of the abstract should not exceed 50 words. To help proper review, the abstract should also indicate the most relevant topic number from the above list. If possible, please use the abstract submission form on the reverse side of this call for papers. 2. Eight copies of a five-page digest. To ensure unbiased evaluation, the digest should be separate from the abstract and show the title but not the authors. Text in the digest should be double spaced. The digest should outline the work to be presented, the objectives, and the goals achieved. Inclusion of key equations, figures, tables, and references is encouraged provided no more than a total of five pages are submitted. October 15, 1996: Deadline for submission of abstracts with digests. February 15, 1997: Authors notified of acceptance. April 30, 1997: Deadline for submission of camera-ready manuscript. Submit abstracts with digests to: IEEE PESC '97 University of Illinois Conferences and Institutes 302 East John Street, Suite 202 Champaign, IL 61820 Telephone: (217) 333-2882 Facsimile: (217) 333-9561 E-mail: PESC@c3po.ceps.uiuc.edu For program information contact: Arthur Kelley, Program Chair North Carolina State University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Box 7911 Raleigh, NC 27695-7911 USA Telephone: (919) 515-7357 Facsimile: same or (919) 515-5108 E-mail: kelley@ncsu.edu For conference information contact: Philip Krein, General Chair University of Illinois Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering 1406 West Green Street Urbana, IL 61801 USA Telephone: (217) 333-4732 Facsimile: (217) 333-1162 E-mail: krein@ece.uiuc.edu PESC 1997 World Wide Web Site - http://kelley.ece.ncsu.edu/PESC97/PESC97.html Abstracts and digests will be returned to the authors if they arrive after October 15, 1996 or if they do not adhere to the above guidelines or if they are submitted by facsimile. Papers are accepted for PESC '97 only if the authors agree to submit the camera-ready manuscript by April 30, 1997 for publication in the conference program and if at least one author agrees to register and present the paper at PESC '97.
