A new self-study course on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)/Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) is now available from The Educational Activities Board of IEEE. This continuing education course is authored by Dr. V. Prasad Kodali, who is an adviser in the Department of Electronics of the Government of India and an IEEE Fellow. The course consists of a study guide, a textbook, and selected readings. Among the topics featured in the lessons are: Natural and nuclear sources of EMI; EMI from apparatus and circuits; probabilistic and statistical physical models; radiated and conducted interference measurements; pulse interference immunity; grounding, shielding, and bonding; EMI filters; cables, connectors and components; frequency assignment and spectrum conservation; and EMC standards. A final examination follows the course. Those successfully completing the course are awarded 8 CEUs and the IEEE Certificate of Achievement.
