Osaka and Vicinity Osaka forms the hub of the Kansai area and is surrounded by the culturally diverse cities of Kobe, Kyoto and Nara. Along with Osaka's fabled tradition, it presents itself as one of the most modern and technically advanced cities in the world. Take Kansai International Airport (KIX) which is constructed on a massive artificial island as one prime example. As a part of PCC Osaka 2002 we would like to show you a bit of the old and the new. Our banquet features a cruise to the Akashi-Channel-Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in the world. Also, as a part of the conference program, we are planning to visit the new and advanced converter station for the Kii-Channel HVDC Link.
