Abstract :
The paper is devoted to the description of the functionalities and power control strategy of
the propulsion system for an electric kart. The choice of an electric kart as a test vehicle is due to its
simplicity in terms of mechanics but dealing with an highly dynamics vehicle. Bull-ET is at the same
time the vehicle created by the student team at the Politecnico di Torino to compete in international
kart competitions. The paper describes the detail of the electric drive-line and introduces a new simple
control strategy for motor torque considering all converter and motors limits in relation with the battery
power management requirements.
