Abstract :
An air cooled medium voltage drive family called “SYMPHONY” based on IGBT modules and floating capacitor topology is described.
The harmonic content of both, input and output current is very low, due to 18 pulse input and 4-level voltage output.
Beside principal explanations to introduce the solution, the clearly arranged design is described, leading to high reliability, because of a low number of components and low cost of maintenance.
A closer look is given to the key components like “partial discharge free low inductance bus bars”, “gating power supply” and the “floating capacitor module”.
