Abstract :
Starting from the methods of type tests, which are based on standards
on a company's knowledge and on failure mechanisms, the most important
methods of electronic component testing are described in detail. These
induce the tests of long-term behaviour in a dry atmosphere or resistance
to humidity, of power-cycling behaviour, of temperature-cycling behaviour
and of pre-aging. Indications are given of stress factors, choice of test
time and number of test samples. General advice on test methods is also
given. A description of methods of failure analysis completes the article.
